The Pursuit Of Happyness

I was watching this movie last night and i felt touched emotionally, very. Its like watching one of the best actor acting at his best for 2 of the best movie i've watched recently. He was none other than Will Smith, the errr ... old Fresh Prince of Bel Air? Hahahaha. That was like long ago before he went into movies and propelled him into stardom.

Movies such as Independence Day, i-robot are great but i think that he improves and is at his best last year. His performance in I am Legend is simply stunning. You have to watch that movie to catch a glimpse of his superb performance. His facial reaction, his emotions, his believability in his roles, his expression and his adaptation to his role in I am Legend was breathtaking. I was touched yet again in that movie. Very!

But, this post is dedicated to the movie of his, The Pursuit of Happyness. This story is about a man struggling to make ends meet at 1981 in San Francisco. Chris Gardner is good with number and is a superb salesman and has a very good people skill. He sells bone scanning machines to the hospital at 250 dollars each and he has to sell 2 each month to cover all his basic expenses. He was struggling.

His girlfriend, Linda (Thandie Newton), mother for his son, Christopher, left them for a better future in New York as a waitress? *Seems funny, but its a adaptation from a real story* One day, Chris passed by Dean Witter, a stockbroking company, and to what he felt and know was, everyone there seems to be so happy. I mean, everyone in that scene at the particular time, smiles with their white teeth! *I thought stocks nowadays are very depressing given the situation of the market now!*

He was then touched spiritually, and he felt he has to do the right thing. He was not happy. He went to apply for this internship program as a stockbroker, sort of a game show like The Apprentice, that lasts for 6 months and works without pay. He has to compete with 20 other guys/girls and at the end, only 1 of them will be hired.

His educations stops after high school with blanks lines at further education without college diploma nor university degree but he was determined. He is strong in numbers and his mind was simply the best. He is positive and constructive. He smiles all the time, strong in character and did i mention he is very good with the cube as well? Hahaha.

He calculates very well into mathematical equations. He was not afraid of rejections and he went straight to the top for sales. He quotes this,"X number of calls equals to X number of prospects equals to X number of sales equals X number of commission", or something like that. He also quotes,"I never stop between calls, this saves me of 8 minutes a day competing against other 19 students. I never drink water, i save time by not needing to go to the toilet".

My god!

Not only he was good with people skills and numbers, but he was good with number! At the end, he managed to find his "happyness", all smiles in the all smiles street. He starts his own investment fund company after 6 years at 1987 and sell of his company for multi million dollar deal years after that.

It was a breathtaking performance for him, Thandie Newton and the appearance of his own son, Jaden in this movie. I believe that his performance is all natural as he acts as what he do everyday. The father to his own son and the protecter of his family. I am so touched emotionally after the movie that i can hardly slept after that.

Go on! Go catch The Pursuit Of Happyness for a great movie with strong storyline, nice ending and a breathtaking performance from Will Smith.

p.s: I personally think that I am Legend is better. His performance there makes me wowsy for a week.
