Saturday at Shanghai

I left to Shanghai on Friday directly after work on the perfect evening, served with chillness and coolness of the air, planned and prepared for the weekend at this magnificent place. We took a ride with our colleague who stays in Shanghai. We reached Shanghai Puxi South area around 7pm and proceed to find the ever nice HomeInn Hotel at CaoBaoLu, nearby to Xujiahui.

By the time we checked in, we make a move to Metro Plaza in Xujiahui by cab and have our nice dinner at the food court, Mee Siam with a set of toasted bread, 2 half boiled eggs and a glass of ice coffee. Just perfect! We then proceed with Metro going to HuaiHai Lu and walk about there. Apparently Huaihai Lu is adjacent to Nanjing Dong Lu and has much more shops and malls to walk about. There are Isetan, H & M, Shanghai Times Square, Hong Kong Mall and plenty of others mall and shops to walk till your leg breaks...

We reached back at hotel around 12am and get our much needed rest for Saturday. We was like dead tired and our legs are just sored. Woke up at around 9am tomorrow morning and get ready to go out to go to AP mall in Pudong to meet up with our friends there.

The most funny and unbelievable thing happens, the area of Xujiahui has a blackout and the Metro is stop. Infact, all the shops, traffics and etc stops. Imagine a blackout inside Metro with no lights. Wonderful! Imagine 2 trains stops and alights at 1 single station and everyone is pushing to go out...Hundreds of people rushing and walking up the stairs...Horrible sight!

We then walk to the next station and proceed to have our breakfast 1st at a SoyaBean shop with no electricity :) 2 hours later, Metro is available back, but with limited trains and limited stops at limited locations. Funny. The trains are like....OMFG! Packed even worst than sardines. Imagine scores of people rushing up the Metro even with some stuck between the doors of the trains and reforce to reopen again to push into the already overly too packed sardine cans. We waited for almost 4 trains to pass by before there are a little space for us to slot in. We are too stuck at the doors...OMFG!

We managed to reach to AP Plaza at Pudong by noon and have our lunch there, Melrose Pizza. We walked around and i managed to bargain and bought 1 pair of jeans and a belt at a discounted bargained price. The trick is to know the bottom line cost of the items and NOT speaking out of the price u want. Rather let them say the price and just complains its expensive and walk out of the shop before asking for sizes and designs of the items that you wish to purchase. They will then offer you a price that is 70% below the listed price. Bargain again by giving them your price then. Ask them to sell u at that price or u simply walk off. 80% of the times, you will get with what u want at a price that is way below normal, but there is still little bit of profit for them to make. You win and they win! Fair deal...IMHO

Then we went to Yu Yuan Garden via car and walk around till night fall at 6pm. I managed to buy some beads and bracelet at a bargain, IMHO. We then went to eat there in a chinese restaurant and finish by almost 7.30pm. Then, we went to XinTianDi at nearby HuaiHaiLu for some walking and a drink by the roadside cafe cum bar cum restaurant. Nice... See the picture above for the map of XinTianDi and it is similiar to Clarke Quay in Singapore although i recomment Clarke Quay being bigger and more happening minus the chilling nice weather. Cool now in Shanghai and it is simply so nice being able to sit by the roadside smoking, drinking and simply enjoy the time then.

We hang out till 9pm and went back to ZJG, back home to home sweet home. But not without going to Malones for Man Utd Live match vs Middlebrough, which the devils win 4-1. Nice!

Krazybananaz out!
